About The Fog Horn

We believe two things: modern readers want curated, consumable stories that don’t stack up on the coffee table, and writers should be paid for great writing, industry trends be damned.

We publish Hollywood writers and new voices, culled from public submissions. Published alongside one another like a literary ProAm, they offer quality short fiction from all genres, well-written stories to be devoured on the subway, in bed, on the treadmill, or in front of the fire.

Published stories earn $1000: peanuts to fancy authors, but honest milk money to baby writers. We fund our business entirely through subscriptions, at $3.99 a month, or $1 a story.

We publish on the TypeEngine platform — enabling us to be lightweight, easy to navigate and above all, a great reading experience.

We donate 5% of net revenue to 826LA, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
